Often times most sites only give you two options when you start your quest for high end and perfect items, such as a perfect fathoms, griffons, rends, eth treks, tyraels, high life skill gcs, and nice moded small charms; those being: settle for an unperm version or look elsewhere.
We settled on the latter, atleast, on the ladder realms where those items aren't commonly mass duped (or as mass duped as non ladder). But no longer have we punished legit, loyal, proven customers for the acts of others (fraud). In this business fraud is just something you get used to. You can try to avoid it, and we're fairly good at that, but even our systems aren't fail safe.
D2supplies, being the industry leaders we are, have yet again developed a solution that does not penalize the legit customers, the honest folks, the loyal customers who have every right to buy these items at a fair price. I (Bryan) have made it a personal goal of mine to bring back the high calibre items to those who we feel are the safest people to purchase them.
Allow me to introduce our newest system, the Premium Customer Algorithm. I spent the better part of an entire week developing and implementing this system that acts intelligently to flag certain customers as a Premium Customer. To those who have earned it, we congratulate you, to those who have not we can only say continue doing your thing and it will probably come in due time.
More or less, the Premium Customer system was implemented to allow us to sell our mass godly legit high end items and perfects that often get custom requested. We've wanted to post them for a while but it's always been too risky. Not anymore!. Basically, if you see an item with a message under the picture or notes that resembles "This item is for Premium Customers" it means you're unable to purchase it because you've not met the required criteria yet and it will appear out of stock. It doesn't mean you're a bad customer or we think you're a scammer. It merely means due to the high risk of fraud on these types of items we're very selective on who we let buy them. Afterall, they're basically irreplacable.
To clear up confusion so customers do not take offense in this "pre-screening" there's a more detailed explination of what it does below.
For the people interested in a more technical explination with an anology...
Think of the Premium Customer Algorithm like that of Google's SERP (Search Engine Result Page), PageRank, and TrustRank Algorithms. Everytime you search for a phrase the list of sites that show up can change within a second; our perception of a customer can too. This is because Google "scores" web pages on hundreds of criteria such as your domain age, how many people link to you, what title tags your site uses, how often your domain info is changed, etc. We dio the same, with different things of course, and a lot less than "hundreds"
While I'm not a Berkeley genius like Mr. Larry Page who founded Google, I'd like to say I'm quite confident in this new system and my programming knowledge. None the less, the jist of it is that everytime you view an item you're entire history on this site is sent through this complex algorithm to determine if you should be dubbed Premium. We do not manually set this to users and never will; that'd defeat the purpose of the system.
Moving along, pretty much any perfect item or items that are quite rare willl be available to only Premium customers. This way we can offer true legit, non-poofable versions at a competitive price, infact, we encourage you to find another shop offering the variety of products we do at the prices. Most simply cannot, because no thought has went in to on how to make sure these items only reach the hands of those who earned them. We always think ahead and develop unique solutions to get over these obstacles, then we pass the savings on to you!
If you want a better chance of becoming Premium to buy the best items most shops don't offer unless you like to temp perm them then use common sense. I won't spill the beans on what we use to determine things but common sense and if you're an honest legit guy chances are you're already on the right path.
We're sure this will cause confusion so please read the FAQ a few times if you have trouble understanding anything. We didn't even have to make this system public or even inform you under items that they are restricted to Premium Customers, but I think I speak for the rest of the staff when I say it's much better to address it before it takes huge effect then anwser endless questions about why our 2/30/15 coas never come in stock; the reality is, they probably are, you just cannot see them until you're more trusted by the site.
On a final note... trust is not gained through excessive orders or expensive spending. Infact, those might actually penalize you in the algorithm. In the next backend update I do I'll be implementing more anti-fraud measures by throttling spending and auto cutting unverified people off after certain thresholds have been reached, as well as implementing auto-refund settings for certain criteria (say unverified+unconfirmed) so I'd just be a normal person and buy what you planned to before you thought it might help you be able to buy a 30% fathom. If you want one that bad you can pay with cash which would ensure a fraud free transaction. This FAQ was last updated: May 19th, 2007 @ 10:46 PM |
